Zero Emissions, Off - Road Bliss: Electric Jeep Revolution
The all-electric Jeep Recon, a Trail Rated SUV inspired by the Wrangler, has finally received its official specs and launch date. Set to hit the market in early 2026, the Recon marks Jeep's first fully electric off-road vehicle, promising a robust performance with 650 horsepower and an impressive 620 ft-lb of torque. The 100kWh battery pack will offer up to 250 miles of range and a blistering 3.6-second acceleration from 0 to 60 mph.
What sets the Recon apart is its Trail Rated certification, making it the first fully electric SUV to meet Jeep's stringent standards for off-road capability, including traction, water fording, and ground clearance. This certification underscores Jeep's commitment to ensuring the Recon can handle a variety of challenging terrains, from rugged trails to muddy landscapes.
The Recon's design and capabilities are bolstered by its 4X4 system and 33-inch tires, ensuring it can tackle diverse terrains with ease. However, the timeline for production has been somewhat delayed; while Jeep initially announced a 2024 launch, recent updates suggest a possible debut in late 2025 or early 2026. This delay is partly due to past issues with battery fires in previous hybrid models, which have led to recalls affecting over 375,000 vehicles. Despite these setbacks, the Recon represents a significant step forward for Jeep's electric lineup and could signal a new era in off-road electrification.
